Lavender House

acrylic on paper 9"x12"
Ever since I discovered artist Jim Wagner's work in Taos I have wanted to paint "primitive", which to me means simple, somewhat awkward and heartfelt.  I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I'll get there.  This house is in National City in a spot where there are others of interest. I want to go back there.

New Mexico Redux

Sometime in the '90's I visited New Mexico and was enchanted by this piece of architecture.  These are the photos I took then.

On my recent trip, in Old Town Albuquerque, I found myself eating in an outdoor patio restaurant and facing the same adobe wall.  I was again fascinated, took photos and sketched, not remembering my previous interest until I came home and hauled out the New Mexico album from long ago!

Here AGAIN:

Fleeing to the Sea

Our unusually warm weather
takes me back to the islands of  Hawaii
where the BEST weather lives
in a mansion of scented air.
