Weekend Monotypes

Spent a great weekend at the Fallbrook School of Arts taking a monotype class from Amber George.  Here are some results.  I like 'em!

Ladies of the Garden

This "one foot" painting was accepted for the  show opening July 30 at San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park!  First submitted in February, now second try successful.  This inspires me to submit something for every show, even if previously rejected.  Is my cocoon leaking?

Encaustic - Day 2

This was a great class.  I learned a lot and the teacher, Jan Harris, is excellent.  She was subbing for Judy Wise who is ill.  There were only five of us in the class, of equal art experience.  Sweet!

Mixed Media Encaustic!

I love it!  Here's what I did in class today.
Tomorrow we learn more ways to do it.  I like the magpie, but the crossword bugs not so much. I may work on that some more to tone it down, change the values, something...

Fishy Felt

i made the design with wool roving, then sloshed hot, hot water on it, then wrapped it in a cocoon of bubble wrap & net around a plastic floating tube, THEN rolled it and rolled it and rolled it with my forearms, squishing all the water out and miraculously binding the wool tightly together in one piece (hard work), then rinsed it and threw it on the ground five times, then dried it in the sun and that's more than you wanted to know about Wet Felting.  Now the idea is to embroider it flamboyantly and add bling.  I kind of like it the way it is - softly felt.

On Vacation...

...here at Squirrel Inn.  Took a class at Idyllwild Arts Campus yesterday: Wet Felting, taught by, of course, Jane La Fazio.  I did a "fishy" thing that needs lots more embellishing. I'll post it soon and again when it's finished.
