Travelmania

...made this hugeness (30"x40") at a Mask class with Ruth Dorn way back when.  It glows in the dark on my office wall reminding me of my adventures in the Faraway and counteracting the Daily News.  I'm off to an art class in peaceful BC Canada soon.

This Travel Jester
amuses the Queen in me -
she’s out of this world!

Camera to eye
she juggles the hemispheres,
keeping track of time,
thinking on a different plane,
digesting the globe.

She is feeling younger but
mindful of the sky;
its starry message fills her
with the glow of time:

never ending and goodbye…

The House on Broken Battery Street

Went sketching, left the ignition on...

There was a wonderful wrought iron fence in front I'm scared to add due to my difficulty with straight lines.  Might try a paper cutout.  Then all my houses could have one!

Elora at the Beach

acrylic 18x24
My 'poetic metaphor' here is that she is poised of the edge of childhood with the wave of adolescence ready to engulf her.  Successful surfing, lovely grand daughter!

Burmese Boy

When I visited Southeast Asia several years ago we were allowed to go to a small section of Myanmar by boat from Thailand.  This child was standing alone in the middle of a huge temple courtyard holding a sack over his shoulder that was bigger than himself.  This weekend I took an art class and finally painted him.

Safari Park

Here's a rusty little sketch of mama and baby at Safari Park yesterday.

Note:  I will never rely on my iPhone to take photos in this type of setting again.  Didn't get any good pictures or even good (accidental) videos.  Friend says I should just practice more, OK but old photo-dog is SO GOOD at old tricks!  Phooey.  My best shot was a quick "sit-down" sketch at the elephant enclosure.  Sketching from the tram was impossible.
