My Mask 1 - Peace Weaver

This piece was toppled by the Easter earthquake.  Suffered some brain damage.  Restoration is in progress.

To hear and not judge;
To love without controlling;
These are Peace Lessons
I teach and learn.

My Name is Peace Weaver.

I am formed of Earth and Water.
I breathe deeply
for the Breath of Life is Sweet.

My Earth is covered with the Seeds of
Amaranth,
symbols of Undying Love.
My  Waters shelter Mermaids
who dive for Treasure
in the Caves of the Unconscious,
where life’s shipwrecks hide old bones
and Wisdom Pearls rise to the surface.

I reflect the Broken Patterns;
My tears are Crystal Prisms;
I speak Gently of Metamorphosis.

Wires of Communication
spiral around me.
I See your Music;
I Hear your Beauty;
With what you bring,
We make Peace.

Feeling Silly

The porcupine is very cute
to meet him you must wear a suit
of armor
or he'll harm yer

 a turtle or an artichoke?
I thought so too
until it spoke!

One emotion
of the ocean

Did I Ever Show You...

...my sculpture?  Probably not.  Here is the last piece I tried.  It's supposed to be me.  I destroyed it a looong time ago.  As the old saying goes: I should have quit while it was a head.  I now realize that although it didn't look like me to me, it wasn't half bad.

First Day of Summer

June 18, 2009 was the day I began this blog. My best artstuff has been posted.  If i could turn the blog upside down, I would.  Now it's time to create more, rest, or both.
Lately I've been doing more writing - a memoir of my childhood in New Hampshire including some history and genealogy, dedicated to my grandchildren whom I suspect will never read anything unless it's on Facebook.  I could be wrong.  We'll see.

My Father

Younger here than I ever knew him.
He gave me my mother,
good health,
longevity
and love.

Rest in Peace on Fathers Day.

Mommoir

There was a young girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, and when she was good she was very, very good, and when she was bad - well, she was never bad, she was my Mother.

When in Greece...

.

 ... paint a watercolor.  This was done long ago from a trip to Greece and Turkey photo. Not doing much current work. Got interested in writing a memoir of my childhood in New Hampshire.  Next big art adventure will be classes in Idyllwild right after the Fourth of July where Jane La Fazio will be teaching a day of wet felting, among other things.  I'll be there for a week in a tiny cabin named Squirrel's Run, by a creek!

Long Ago and Far Away

This is a watercolor from a photo I took years ago (1998) in Thailand on a day tour to a Muslim fishing community built on stilts over open sea.  This angelic looking little girl was sitting in a doorway.  Photos were not prohibited, but after I took her picture and smiled - she stuck out her tongue at me!

Here's the photo -
and here's a watercolor scene from the village. (Those are fish drying lower left)

Are You Ready?

Just a little digital reminder of the fun to be had this summer, created by Grami and Elora.

Summer does start June 1st, right?
