Art History: Famous Couples That Never Were #3

This is the last one!  It's still February, the Love Month.

Andy Warhol and Caravaggio (together now):

Art History: Famous Couples That Never Were #2

Vincent Van Gogh and Georgia O'Keefe

Joined (by me!) in Heaven:

No. 1: Henri Matisse and Niki de Saint Phalle

I have joined them in Heaven:

Treerotic Photogratree

This is not photoshopped. It's a photo of an actual tree formation in the vicinity of Seaforth Marina.

Ladies of the Garden

Planning to submit this new acrylic 12"x 12" for the SDAI one-foot show. (It got in!)

Dragon Tale

I am finally finished with this one - mixed media collage. It looks all crisp and glossy in person, with a white mat and black frame, no glass.

Now I'll make up the story to go with it.

Oops!  I forgot to add the red lanterns in the pagodas.

Sketch Toddle

Toddling at Liberty Station yesterday - visited the Quilt Visions show and the San Diego Watercolor Society show - then had coffee+ in the outdoor area by Von's where all sorts of lucious fruits, veggies and flowers are available for sketching while you sip.  Try it!

Mermaids Moon Vacation

Hey, You!!!

Stealth Jacket

(to be worn inside-out when you don't want anyone to know how happy you are)

WIP Revisited

Remember the Work in Progress?  I added a Golden Dragon breathing fire. Now I wonder if I should make that little blob on the lower right more like a dog barking.  Hmmm.  (I just saw Avatar.  Anything is possible.)

Flowers in February

Work in Progress

This is a paper on paper collage with interesting depth and color but no purpose.  I don't know where to go from here.  It needs something...else. Maybe a black dragon flying across the moon?

The Red Lights of Amsterdam

Way back in these archives there is a series of paintings, "Nude Studies out of the Closet", done in a Figure Study class (teacher: Don Andrews).  I used smaller versions of them in this collage (10x13) over little squares of colored tissue paper.  Trying to get the illusion of the Redlight District's doorways reflected at night in the canal,  I covered the whole thing with pink cellophane.  It's not exactly a success, but fun!

Waterkiss

They "gyre and gimbal in the wabe"
the burly guy, the mermy babe.
Their lips are sealed, nary a bubble!
They're all at sea and they're in lubble.

In The Deep Blue Sea

Oh, no!  Not another mermaid!  Actually, this is a painting of a jellyfish communicating with a mermaid.  What do you suppose they're up to?
